Which Tips Will Help You Have a Successful Showing?
Here are a few tips to help you put on a successful home showing.
Here at The Ramsey Rhoads Group, we always do our utmost to help our seller clients prep their homes for the market and make them show-ready, so we’re sharing a few of our tips that will help you have a successful showing.
First, we advise not being in the house while a showing is in progress and a buyer is trying to decide whether it’s the right fit. If you have pets, we recommend taking them with you as you leave. If you have a dog, for example, try taking them for a walk. If you can’t take your pets with you, at least try keeping them in a crate during showings.
Some buyers may have pet allergies, so you have to be mindful of that as well. We also don’t advise our clients to try masking any pet odors with candles, Glade plug-ins, etc., because that may give the impression that you’re trying to hide something and divert a buyer’s attention away from the house.
Next, let in as much natural light as possible so buyers can see the house better. Additionally, be as flexible as possible with buyers’ scheduling timelines. With so many people working from home nowadays, some buyers can’t leave their houses during the workday. It’s important for their Realtor to stay on schedule too because COVID prevents us from having overlapping showings. When we schedule showings, we have to stick to specific timeframes. These are often 30 to 45 minutes at most, and we have to account for traffic as well.

The fact that so many people are working from home is a topic we plan on exploring in a future video because this trend is changing what’s most important to buyers. Whereas before some of them would’ve loved an open floor plan, now they require a private space to use as a home office.
