How Do Seasonal Changes Affect Our Market?
Here’s how the back-to-school season affects (or doesn’t affect) our market.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know kids are heading back to school. Conventional wisdom says that real estate markets slow down when the school year starts; but is it true?
If you want the simple answer, no, the real estate market doesn’t significantly change when school starts. We get asked this question all the time, and not just when the school year starts. People talk about the market slowing down when summer begins, vacations kick off, snow starts falling, or any seasonal change happens. An adjustment period is natural, but it doesn’t signify any long-term change.
At the end of the day, our market is determined by supply and demand, not kids heading back to school. That being said, if you are listing your home, you may notice a slowdown in offers for a few days as people adjust to the season. If this happens, don’t freak out; it’s normal. Within a week or so, offers will flood in just like they were before.
“Our market is determined by supply and demand, not kids heading back to school.”
This discussion is part of a bigger question we get asked all the time: “Is now a good time to sell?” Now is still a great time to sell. The underlying factors that made our market so crazy for sellers are still around, so you will continue to get awesome deals on your home.
